Early in the voice over narration on this prisoner of war movie the narrator observes that there are no prisoner of war movies. I guess he'd never heard of "Grand Illusion". "Stalag 17" stars William Holden and Peter Graves, with Otto Preminger as the German prison compound warden. The plot centers around plans to escape which are being sidetracked by a planted informer. Some mid century humor just doesn't go over today (liike that in "Forbidden Planet') but the reat of the story is taut and well done. Holden appeared years later of course in "The Bridge on the River Kwai", another prisoner of war yarn.
