One of Robert Duval's greatest performances-he really gets under the skin of the philosophical Texas Ranger/cattle rancher Augustus McCrae. Crackling good dialogue and a knockout cast. I won't go quite as far as Road Warrior on Frederic Forrest's performance as the evil Blue Duck, but he is clearly the weakest link. I can think of at least a dozen character actors of Indian/Hispanic descent who would have done better-kinda reminds of the casting of Eli Wallach as a Mexican villain in both The Good, The Bad & The Ugly and Magnificent Seven (although Wallach is a better actor than Forrest). The DVD sucks rancid pond water, unfortunately-not much better than VHS. This title really does deserves a better release.
