Because of some posts here about San Francisco traffic, I was inspired to watch this Hitchcock masterpiece again last night. It is a spellbinding film, made more so by Bernard Herrman's magnificent score. The only thing that always bothers me, however, is the shots of Stewart and Novack driving to the mission where the projection behind the rear car window shows that they are driving on the wrong side of the road. It may be that the director is purposefully trying to disorient us but I for one find it distracting.BTW, the documentary "Obsessed with Vertigo" is an excellent look at the making of the film and its mid-seventies resoration. Since the film was re-released in 6 track DTS I wonder why the DVD doesn't give us that option (it is not anamorphic, either).
