Whether you've seen the short lived Firefly series or not, this flick delivers without requiring the viewer to play catch up on the episodic history. In fact, it's so good that I imagine a lot of filmgoers will run out and buy the Firefly series DVD after catching a screening of the movie! Yes, there are revelations for those who've watched the series (sorry, no spoilers), but the build up required to clue-in an unitiated film audience is amazingly brief & skillfully handled by Writer/Director Joss Whedon. If I had to provide a rating, I'd give this rollicking SF adventure flick four stars on a five star scale. ****/*****Two or three interesting films open this weekend, but if you've never seen the original Firefly series & only have time to catch one film, Serenity is worth your time. Trust me, the Firefly cast, most making their big screen debut in this film, WILL grow on you! :o)
Cheers,
