Home Films/DVD Asylum

Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

Having finally caught this film myself, I agree with your impressions almost 100%.

The Silas character, played by Paul Bettany was excellent, but so was Sir Leigh Teabing, the character portrayed by esteemed actor Ian McKellen. Sadly, the rest of the cast was pretty much miscast, IMO; either that or badly directed by Ron "journeyman" Howard in one of his less distinguished efforts.

Interestingly, Ian McKellen is competing with himself in two powerhouse big budget features this weekend, the other feature being X-Men III where he reprises his effective portrayal of the super-villain Eric Lensherr (aka Magneto). Of the two films, X-Men has the potential for repeat viewings, so it's on my home video DVD purchase list; The Da Vinci Code, alas, is not.

Cheers,
AuPh
