As he did in the later "Titanic", writer/director James Cameron pays tribute to Kubrick's "2001..." by focusing a brief circular shot of a round chandelier fixture while "The Blue Danube" is playing. The movie is a hoot, with Arnold playing a secret secret U.S. government agent on the trail of terrorists. Jamie lee Curtis, his wife, thinks he is a bond salesman, as does his defiant teen age daughter. Arnold is assisted by Tom Arnold in a really good role for him. As the film progresses the stunts become even more outrageous and unbelievable, ending with a rescue chase involving a helicpter and a limosine on the Florida Keys Waterway, a nuclear explosion, and a high rise rescue attempt by Harrier jet. Great fun, slowed in the middle by an unnecessary subplot involving Curtis suspected of infidelity. Strangely, the letterboxed DVD is not anamorphic.
