on the big screen. DOC at University of Chicago is having a month of Jazz themed movies.I've been wanting to see this for years, and it was nice to see it on the big screen. The print was a little ratty, and for the 1st 15 minutes the music wasn't quite synched up, so Dexter Gordon sounded like he was playing under water. Luckly, the projectionist was able to get it together and the film was quite enjoyable.
Aside from the music (which is great) the story is allowed to unfold at a very deliberate pace. No rush, no hurry, no car chases. All-in-all, a very engrossing piece of story telling. Just a smige too long, but maybe I was suffering from the late 9 pm. start time.
When I get home tonight I'm going to pull out the LP of the soundtrack and give it a spin.
