A couple of you have complained recently about the deliberate use of music in a movie to hieeghten or even "cause" an emotional reaction on the part of the viewer. To this I for one say "So what?". Music has been used for this purpose since the begininning of cinema. A film is not a play, it is a movie. So why can't all parts (writing, acting, direction, cinematography, set design, production design, sound, and music) play a role in getting the viewer to suspend disbelief and become involved with what the film is trying to accomplish? (I include silence in this as well.)
