the Rodriguez film is far superior to Tarantino's effort.
Tarantino's is one ridiculously long car scene. The same thing all but endlessly for minute after eternal minute. And it had a fatal flaw: why didn't the idiot on the hood get off it when Russell's car spun out in the cloud of dust in the field? She had several minutes. Oh, yeah, then the scene would have ended...
The usually sharp Tarantino ear for conversation also failed here: the "girl talk" was boring. Basically, it was snippets of conversations from previous Quentin films.
Rodriguez, on the other hand, had a fantastic story to tell and he did it well. Crisp dialogue, huge dollops of humor, and a fast-paced, action-strong ride from bloody hell.
Quentin looks like hell, by the way. Time for him to retire from service in front of the camera.
