in look and subject matter. I was worried it would be a cliche (like other gritty looking movies with shady/depressing characters and grainy look) but every scene seemed to contribute to further the movie and in the end I was very happy to have seen The Dead Girl.

FWIW Britney Murphy gave her best performance that I remember, hopefully it is not too close to home...
