it was received so poorly. I guess many people want escapism or fantasy and don't want to look at the soul of America. What they see might not be very nice. For the same reason that great books like John Updike's POOR HOUSE FAIR was never made into a movie. It was released almost at the same time as David Lean's RYAN'S DAUGHTER which was also poorly received by audiences. Audiences were changing I believe shifting from middle aged to young. Another one I'm looking for is BOUND FOR GLORY on blue ray. Ray
