Yeah, talk about manipulative. Did you notice the angry Hindu mob screaming "they're muslim, let's get 'em!" and promptly murdering the boys' mother? Imagine all the westerners who left the theater thinking how wronged those poor innocent Muslims are. Nevermind that they just turned Mumbai into a terrorist attack zone or that India is dotted with mosques built right on top of the ruins of gorgeous Hindu temples.
I also was horrified at how, after raping his brother's girlfriend at gunpoint and basically conducting himself as a gangster/aspiring terrorist, Salim thoroughly redeemed himself by going out in a blaze of suicidal glory screaming "God is great". The whole film was like a propaganda piece from CAIR.
I won't even get into the whole western gameshow part of the plot. Really in poor taste and exploitative. The real problem in India is the caste system, which was not even explored.
