As a huge fan of Alien and Aliens, and a strong detractor of Alien 3,
I have avoided seeing AR until last night.
It's a mixed bag. I liked the new Ripley and thought she had some
great lines, esp. at the end ("I'm a stranger here myself"). I thought
the sets and costumes and cinematography were all fine. But the story
line was weak, the action sequences were sometimes questionable, the
story did not always flow smoothly, and there were several disconnects
in the story line.
In short, it was better than I had heard, but still weak. Most reviewers
gove it 2.5/5.0, I give it 3/5.
Now, if only James Cameron or Ridley Scott could be persuaded to make
Alien 5 to the same level as the first two ...
