Delon's Mr. Klein is a somewhat of a mysterious leech purchasing objects d'art from the Parisian Jewry and doing quite well. That is until he is delivered the official Jewish newspaper to his front door--subscription only and the implications are dangerous!
Delon sets off on a quest to convince the authorities that he is not Jewish but that another Klein exists who must be. Delon traces down Klein's apartment, friends, and a girl friend. But, despite his best efforts he decides to liquidate and head out of France until he has an accidental phone conversation with the other Klein. Delon determined to find who was setting him up sets off for a meeting only to be stopped by a police arrest.
Delon's return sets upsets his escape and the next day he is arrested as the Mr. Klein as well.
This is a somewhat intriguing movie that is a composite of true experiences of Frenchmen during 1942 and the first deportations of Jews to Germany. There are cameos by various A team French actors including Moreau and Lonsdale.
If you are into history this a flavorful taste of the time.
