Ruminating on the plot? What would I have done for the remaining two hours and twenty-two minutes?
I fully understand where Tarintino's coming from as far as using a platform to write his often great scenes and realize any plot is a mere formality at best.
But the premise for IB was just absurd.
Vignettes seem to be his forte; cohesive filmmaking an afterthought. This is where editing is imperative and his immaturity so apparent.
He doesn't have what it takes to be a novelist and is a good short story kinda guy.
That's fine; I don't expect any more from him, but I did expect better from IB, which was a filmatic comic book.
Great performances, occasional incredible dialog and some mighty fine shots don't add up to best film of the year though IMO.
Those individual qualities may be worthy of recognition, but I don't think the film as a whole is.
I've very much enjoyed and appreciated most of most of his previous films.
