Back when I was doing music business publicity I had arranged for some kids to give out fliers/handbills outside Nottingham Forest's ground one Saturday afternoon and as I handed stacks of them out I heard a gruff voice behind me say "I hope that's not that National Front shit, lad". The NF was/is a British neo-nazi movement that gained some ground during the hard years of Thatcher.
Turning round it was BC himself ready to wade in if needed.
After he found what I was doing I was invited in and met the club's pre-match DJ who from then on would always play tracks from bands coming to the area.
He was one of a kind.
