Well, this happened at least a month ago. I was VERY surprised too, and panicked for a bit. Even though AMG had probably the worst and stupidest search engine on the planet (the original AMG one was more useful, and Rovi's is rather good), and they were riddled with errors (they easily rivalled imdb for that), they were my guide of choice for finding out quick stuff.
AllMusic is now Rovi too.
Yup, it's dumbed down. And less useful info too, just like the last AMG had less useful info than the previous AMG of a few years ago did. I presume it is dumbed down (or whatever) to make it more suitable for the iThingy apps.
One of the funny (to me) things I found at AMG that I know I've mentioned before: You know how students of a certain age might watch the movie of a book instead of reading it for a book review? Well at AMG they did the opposite: there are MANY reviews where the reviewer obviously did a book review and didn't watch (or remember) the movie. We all (I think) know the perils of presuming a book and movie are even vaguely similar, but apparently some of their reviewers didn't.
