chess phenom, from childhood to bizarre ending. Did Bobby keep Spassky waiting for that strange first game out of strategical positioning or neurotic foreboding? How did he train for the match? What happened to him after it, why did he disappear?
After you have gotten to see and hear his mother, and learn about his father, you may form your own answers, though with such a complex human being... who knows?
One thing remains certain: he was truly magnificent. While Spassky had an entire federation behind him with many of the top minds in chess to help him plan his strategy, Bobby went it alone, studying games and theory.
This is NOT just a chess lover's film; Fisher was a fascinating creature whose impact extended, because of the Cold War, far beyond the checkered board.
