Huey's legacy? That's a tough one. For the masses, I beleive he's held in very high regard. But not so for those who've done even a modicum of research on the bastard. He ran the Atate for his own self, family, and friends. If something positive got done that benifitted the citizens, then so be it. but that would have been a side =effect of his wheelin and dealin.

I know you know a little bit about leasing lands for O&G exlporation. Texaco leased over a million acres in a backroom deal. The bonus/acre was negligible, even by the standards of the time. The State received a 1/8 royalty (common at the time) and his fambly got a 1/8th override. The deal went to Texaco thru a company some of his buddies ran called Win or Lose Oiil Corporation.
