All the above are accurate points - the only thing I might add is that Sacramento is located in a valley (Big Valley) at the confluence of two major rivers.
Summer - hot - 100+ for days and some humidity, not as high as Mississippi
Winter - nights can get cold - but not much below freezing -
California has its challenges - Government/schools/power and water...
But all in all - a beautiful state with lots to explore -
I'm headed up to the high sierras for some camping with my daughter and friends in a few weeks - and very much looking forward to it.
With the recent "correction" in the markets - the home prices will be high, but not as high as they were Q2 2008 before the fall...you might even get lucky - there are deals to be had...
