I'm aware that I'm limiting the scope, but the comment was reaction to what's displayed on the theaters I see. The main-run cinemas cater to main-run movies, which are Hollywood stereotypes.
I was recently in Seattle, which has quite a few independent "art" houses showing indies and foreign flicks, but places like Seattle are not common. Someone in Fargo I think would find it hard to see foreign/indie types without expensive premium tv channels.
Trip before this, I was in the south, including Mississippi. "Django" was a little hard to find.
Also, for better or worse, tin is a self-made man, but I miss his movie insights.
