Was exercised in Rush.
Hunt and Lauda enjoyed a friendly relationship, having known each other for many years prior to the events of 1976. In fact Lauda stayed with Hunt durring visits to GB early in their respective careers.
While Hunt's persona was very much the "fast living playboy" he was just as committed to success as Lauda.
Virtually no mention is made of Hunt's background with Hesketh....which is what gave him the credibility to have been chosen by McLaren to succeed Fittapaldi. Vs the treatment of Lauda's background at BRM (one test drive causes Lauda to tell the engineers to redesign the car) and Ferrari.
Rightly however, much of the focus is on the the 76 season. And RH has stated that his intent was not to create a documentary, but rather an entertaining movie based on real events.
Best,
Ross
