I didn't "mandate" anything, I just pointed out the disingenuousness...

... of using an actor's support for a cause as a thinly veiled excuse to turn the forum into a political soapbox.

What was stated about Alda didn't present his affiliation with certain causes in a fair and impartial manner, but rather condemned him to the point of ridicule for supporting womens' rights (i.e., the Equal Rights Amendment). The fact that Mr. Alda felt that his support of the Amendment had a great deal to do with his popularity during the run of M*A*S*H was simply his belief. Why did Mike choose to make an issue out of it, demeaning the actor for responding honestly to a question asked during an interview? His response had nothing to do with the actor or his talent, but rather Mike's own political perspective. How does that fit in with a discussion of the arts?

Answer that, if you can.
