In Reply to: I also thought Cooper became Kyle. What made it so amazing was, as you said, this occurred early in the film, posted by Road Warrior on January 16, 2015 at 16:09:19:
This was good as a documentary of sniper during war...very little character development...Like Kyle myself, not wanting to get too close and his moral obligation for being protector of young soldiers, kept him going back for more...no matter his own personal cost, that included his family...
He never really grasped his tittle of "legend", saw himself as doing a job he was good at, nothing more...struggled with the guilt of knowing what was going on while he was state-side..."his" men were dying and could not do anything about it...could not "help"...
On that level it really connects, but it did seem long, 2hrs-20minutes...this is not a buddy war movie, more of a 500 ft view of his life...Clint does not glorify at all and not too GOP preachy...good solid 3.5 stars out of 5...
The Dolby ATMOS was very cool and the added height of the sound stage along with seamless sonic movements was a treat. The locations of gun was extremely exacting...you knew where everything was coming from...sad to say, this was my favorite part of this movie...
Just my $.02
thanks
Mark
