It's amazing what different people will write about a common topic. One review was in Forbes, bad-mouthing the flick because it's profit percentages were not as good as the first movie, proceeding from there to give opinions about Cruise, the story, possIble budget mismanagements, etc, et al. Bottom line: less money = less quality. Absolute nonesense, but when choosing a source like Forbes for cultural opinion, that's what pops out.
Another review was in Rolling Stone, with no mention of money. They mention the public flack of Cruise playing a bone-crusher like Reacher, but quickly added "get over it". They liked the film very much, saying that Cruise did an excellent portrayal. The ramping up of "human interest" elements added to the quality of the story, in that reviewer's opinion.
We can find most any opinion. Many Reacher novels are out there; many folks already familiar with the character. He's someone drifting about, disillusioned with American society and government after initially buying into it all. Sound familiar to anyone? Maybe most of us?
