Netflix streaming - It was unfairly rated 1 1/2 stars. The movie is beautifully made, and although it's mostly a character study with very little plot, you will probably appreciate it more if you read the book, and at the same time be critical of the film shortcomings. The driving force of the book was "Dean Moriarty" (Neal Cassady) but the movie fails to portray him as the 'hurricane force' who awed everyone in his path, mostly Kerouac himself. There was brief appearance of William Burroughs portrayed by Viggo Mortensen.
