It is the most lavishly produced thing ever made for telebision. I was blown away after watching the first three or four episodes. Even the lead-in of the mechanical map is a work of art. Was this a simultaneous UK release along with our HBO?
I have had the good fortune to began and end the first five seasons in about three weeks. It is so great to be able to do that because I feel like I'm living with them at three or four episodes a day.
My first big shock was the beheading of Bean! I had no idea they would have no compassion for likeable characters. I was on board with Dinklage being the best player from the beginning. He, Dance, Ari, the Hound, Emilia Clarke (and bosoms), and Bronn, have been my favorites. I really like Bronn's lower class-punk persona.
It takes some kind of crazy savant to construct such a fable of seven kingdoms, their politics, characters, and struggles to be homogenized into one sustainable plot. Bless'em.
The Red Wedding wasn't a big shock to me (other than taking out that many good guys at once) but the burning of Stannis' daughter was upsetting. Lot of good it did. No writer in his right mind could let that go unpunished.
The economics of this series is baffling. I wish it could go on for twenty years. We still have to pay Ramsay back.
