Well, maybe her best. I really havent seen her ANYWHERE else to make a judgement. It's at least her most accessible for exposure to the public.It's a genuine shame that socalled "independent" or "black" films dont get the distribution. One has to "take a chance" and shell out money for the video, if you want to see them. Once in a while they are on IFC or Bravo...if youre lucky.
I've found that FLIX, only recently, has been a very good source for obscure US films of the sixties, British films of the late fifties early sixties. Lots of early Jon Voight too. There is a great one they are re-running lately called "The Revolutionary" that has Robert Duvall and Seymour Cassell.
I have been "getting into" the MGM DVD "Soul Cinema Series" of what are popularly called BlackExploitation Films of the sixties and seventies. Lots of Pam Grier, for sure...but others like Jim Brown, Fred Williamson, Issac Hayes! At least it's something !
Where is a Black Film Cable Channel to give exposure to the derth of seminal films by Melvin Van Peebles, Moses Gunn, etc. ? Spike Lee isnt the only black film director on the planet...but it sure seems so some times, doesnt it ?
