Inmates,While a warranty service technician was visiting the home of a friend who had recently purchased a new Toshiba 36HFX71, he proceeded to push a few buttons on the set and on the remote then, voila! In a matter of seconds, the screen displayed what appeared to be a "service or design mode" with all sorts of secret menus and mysterious control functions. Now, my friend was not able to see what it is that this technician did to enter this mode because he was being quite discrete. My questions are this...is anyone familiar with this service procedure and what advantage would these "extra" controls have for the average Toshiba user. BTW…my friend’s 2-day-old purchase requires a new picture tube. Go figure.
