Dolby Pro-Logic II now allows for the surround channels to be full range, instead of limiting them to 100 - 7kHz. The new version also applies "steering logic" to the surround channels in much the same way the three front channels are derived in the original Pro-Logic.Those who have heard Pro-Logic II say that it works better for music than the original Pro-Logic -- should you be interested in surround music.
In my opinion, Pro-Logic II will benefit laserdisc material the most -- at least in my case. It has the advantage of using uncompressed PCM to create a more enveloping (as opposed to Dolby Digital) and directional (as opposed to Pro-Logic) soundfield for movies.
