Your TV can't accept a progressive signal if it's a standard Wega. You need the XBR model. Progressive scan will give you a better picture down the road, but those features don't dictate how the player will perform as a transport. Most low-priced players are terrible for this purpose, but you'll always have to make concessions at any price point.Unless space is the real isssue, I'd stay away from this route--if music matters to you. Even a low priced CD player will out perform a similarly priced DVD player, IME. It's nice to have it all in one box, but until you step way up, music is what usually suffers.
