They might be a bit of a stretch for you but I'd strongly recommend a new generation dlp like the sharp 10000 series. I've got both the sharp and a sony g70 (different locations) and although the sony does deliver a better picture, the difference isn't that great and the sharp is so easy to set up and deal with compared to the sony. A decent screen (fixed) will run about $600 and that's all you need for a wonderful HT experience. The plasma just isn't in the same league at all. If ambient light is a problem, then go with the dlp over a crt.
