The deal was simply, "Okay. We'll uproot our lives and move to a different house that needs a ton of work but only if I can get a really cool new TV."Well, what I don't know about all this new display technology could fill several books.
The room is right for Plasma. 50". I need an integrated set-up, including speakers, so my (little) kids can watch Sponge Bob Square Pants without having to (God Forbid) fire-up the whole A/V system.
Been looking at the Pioneer PDP-5030HD, a 50" with the whole package at a price that won't shoot the pooch. Found one "review" of this unit, but by and large these A/V mags suck, and the "reviews" are little more than a repackaging of the maker's press kit.
I also looked at this receiver/monitor combo at a Best Buy, and frankly it didn't look as good at the 42" monitors that surrounded it.
Any suggestions? Insight? I'm not a videophile, and we don't watch a lot of broadcast, so really pretty darn good will be good enough.
TIA
