If I were to go CRT today, my $1200 would go to the Samsung 16x9 model (not sure of the model). Outstanding picture quality from what I've seen.
Be on the lookout for the new Sony XBR 16x9 (due out any day now). Not exactly sure of the model numbers, but it how has black trim instead of all silver. Word on the street that this will be the finest CRT 16x9 tube money can buy (or at least for the near short term). But the 30" will run you about 2k.
