Most receivers do not convert component video to S-video. You must have component outputs to the TV from the receiver. The common connection is to run the video connection directly from the DVD player to the TV, unless you have more video sources than your TV can handle. Running video sources through the receiver is convenient, but will degagrade signal quality (sometimes).
