nothing wrong with Monsters

There's nothing wrong with the MonsterCables that he's using. The extra grip is a plus, as long as you don't make frequent connects/disconnects.

You seem to be referencing what's called locking RCA connectors. The problem with these is that most people overtighten the barrels and change the impedance of the overall connection (not good for video, on top of the fact that RCAs aren't 75Ohm to begin with). The MonsterCable products are tight, but not so tight as to present a problem in this area.
