I have not bought a real TV in many years and am a bit dismayed about what is available. The sales people in stores are totally useless when it comes to answering questions with any kind of perspective. I have almost made up my mind on a Sony 50" Grand Wega LCD rear projection set. My question is the following: is this LCD thing good technology or some kind of stopgap measure? (I understand that any technology can be seen as stopgap, only there until something better comes around) Being in Canada, where prices are higher than in the US, I am not considering anything too rich price-wise, so that pretty well eliminates plasma screens, which I hear have issues insofar as the blacks and the whites are concerned. I read that some still think that the CRT rear projection sets offer better image quality. Their bulk makes them difficult to deal with though. So, any suggestions as to what maybe a better buy than the Sony? Thanks.
