For processors, you can pay tens of thousands (Mark Levinson or Meridian) if you have the budget and get outstanding sound. For a beer budget, Rotel and Outlaw both make very nice processors. In the mid range you might get a used Krell HTS (5 channel versions are dirt cheap now) or Lexicon or Meridian 500 series. For straight musical "talent", I would edge towards the Meridian. I've had a 565/562v in the past (still have it, but it is in storage right now) and it is very nice for 2 channel sound reproduction.
