Even when using a separate power amp using pre-outs the center channel goes out on loud transients? Maybe the center has a "breaker" of sorts???? Either that or your receiver is having some sort of problem as it shouldn't "see" the 4 ohm load using a separate power amp from the pre-outs. It does have pre-outs, right?
