If you use fluorescent lighting along with slow refresh rate displays (less than 100 Hz) you will more than likely cause tiredness of eyes.

This comes about from differing refresh rates of the image source and the fluorescent light source. It's better to have both sources at the same refresh rate or a multiple of each other to avoid tireing your eyes.

You can control the decay/refresh rates of the fluorescent lamp by picking the correct ballast type if my memory serves me well (it's been so many years since I last checked this). Be sure to check with a certified lighting engineer.
