yeah, PS2 is not half of sony's market, but it is cited as the force behind half the company's earnings last year fwiw. my take is that PS2 is going to be closer to $400 and it will be a middle of the road DVD player--good enough to tide you over until HD-DVD is introduced in 2-4 yrs (why anyone would want to spend a lot on a DVD player until then i've no clue). also, i agree with the thrust of this thread which has been implied but never stated: if you don't want to play any PS2 games, there's no sense in buying it. after a tough day in the office, tekken is just the thing for me, so i'm looking forward to the US introduction.
