If you buy a DVD player with a built-in DTS decoder you'll be fine. In fact, you could hook it up both digitally and analog, so that you could use the DD decoder in the receiver and the DTS decoder in the DVD player.Unless you really have the need for DTS (who really does?), you could save some money by forgoing it for now and getting a regular DVD player, then later when you upgrade the receiver (might not, just speculating) you'll have it.
I personally have a Denon DD receiver (no DTS), and don't have the need/want for it. I don't want Eagles Hell Freezes Over, and I am not going to buy Saving Private Ryan, DTS or DD.
Just my thoughts.... BTW, which Denon receiver do you have? I have the 1700.
