The Bag End subs use high resonance drivers in a small cabinet and try to drive the *hit out of them with LARGE amounts of EQ. The problem is that their Integrator has a built in limiter so that excursion is restricted to what the driver can handle. As the other threads have said, the response comes at the expense of SPL. BTW, their 18" driver is nothing more than an Eminence Pro Sound driver. I know because I've been to the factory (Bag Ends'). When I was there I played the 1812 Overture on them. They couldn't handle the cannons even at reasonable listening levels. Look elsewhere. My new favorite drivers are from Lamda Acoustics.Mike
