Subwoofer Problem

63.65.190.242

OK, I’m new to this HT thing, and will never be “into” it as much as most here are, so please try not to laugh.

Here’s my problem, I just purchased a subwoofer and installed it in my HT system. When I listen to music it sounds fine, BUT, it won’t play when watching a movie (VCR) in Pro Logic mode. I checked the manual and it say’s “You cannot connect the CENTER output jack for use with Dolby Pro Logic function to the woofer. Bass sound is not output with some Dolby Pro Logic modes.” What the he## does that mean. Is this normal. Wanted to get the sub before a DVD but am I wrong to assume that the sub will only work in Dolby Digital when viewing movies.

BTW
I have the sub hooked up to the receiver via a subwoofer jack and not a speaker terminal. Thanks
