not trolling, just asking for a friend. I don't have hi def or any new tv, mine is 12 years old. But, his children have graduated and he wants to get a "52' tv and a nice $1000 surround system" just as the linked poster from 5 years ago said. Curious how far the tech has progressed.I was thinking Panasonic XR receiver or the Yamahas reviewed so highly in TAS/Stereophile. Mated with Polks or ? speaks and a Pioneer DV 588 universal.
