RE: What's your price limit?

I actually had been considering the soon-to-be released BDP-S500, which would be $700, so I guess that would be my limit. I'm looking for the best video performance, both with BDs and upscaling of DVDs. Whether the player can handle advanced audio codecs is secondary. (I can't do MCH, so I'll be running audio out of the player's 2-channel analog outputs, which would be a fold-down of the MCH tracks as I understand it.)

What I was trying to get at was whether the BDP-S1 would now be considered a bargain at its new price point and if it would offer at least as good video performance at anything near that price.

Thanks,
Russell
