The Philips DVD player at USD34.99 is the best selling standalone DVD player.
The Samsung BDP1400 is the bestselling standalone HD player at rank 5,
far behind is the SONY BDP-S300 at rank 22
the Toshiba HD-A3 is rank 25 and other Toshiba players nearby.
This does look similar to the ranking I found at amazon, where the cheap Philips were number 1 and the Samsung Blu Ray player number 5 among standalone DVD players.
For any HD player to get to number 5 is a big step forward for HD, getting to number 1 now is most unlikely.
