Since I live in the NYC metro area, I guess that most of the transmitters are on top of skyscrapers in manhatten so I'm about 40 miles from them.
However, I mentioned that I have a 13" TV with plain old rabbit ear stick
antenna and it gets pretty good reception except for some of the weaker
stations like PBS or WB.I don't believe that there are any major obstuctions between me and NYC. There's a small hill between me and
some NJ FM stations but that doesn't affect my TV reception.I imagine all the transmitters are roughly in the same direction. Even WWOR in secaucus is basically towards NYC so yes, all in one direction.
