The DVD player must be able to pass the DTS signal, I don't mean it needs a DTS decoder. The DTS digital bitstream is different than the DD bitstream and some players will not pass this signal to the decoder(reciever). If your player does not have the DTS output logo on it it more than likely will not pass the DTS butstream thus reverting back to the DD stream. This sounds like what is happening here and you will need a DVD player that has a DTS output, not a DTS decoder, These are 2 seperate capabilities.
