Joe,
My experience is with a Pio 1150. It is quiet as a stone. Can't deny the buzz heard in the YouTube link Jack put up. Makes me wonder though about differences and what contributing factors may be underfoot. Why one buzzes and another does not. The obvious ones: different size (50" vs. 60") and latest model vs. one generation old. Others that occur to me are power treatment. In the video it's difficult to tell for sure but it looks like it's hooked up via a daisy chain of extension cords and a cheap power strip. No matter how you slice it, that aint good and could certainly lead to some nasty outcomes. From my previous experiences with power and audio performance I did all I could to ensure a good clean supply to my plasma. Outlets and connectors in the chain from wall to plasma are Oyaide XXX's, power cables are all excellent quality shielded copper and everything (including the cable box) are run through either filtered or filtered and isolated outlets. Is all this a guaranty that you won't get a hum? Maybe not, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Besides, there are other benefits to picture and sound quality. It does make me wonder though how many folks that are having buzz problems are caused or exacerbated by power problems.
